I’m proud to announce a site I developed for content and communication professionals is live, called contentcontent.info. It’s a site that aggregates news from the most popular blogs and news sites for content professionals. You can currently get content and design news from 30 sites and counting. You can add your blog or your favorites today!

The content is automatically updated several times a day, every day, so you’re sure to get the newest content every time you visit contentcontent.info. Each section (Technical Communication, Content Strategy, UX/UI, and Design) shows 25 recent posts. You can always tell when each item was published by hovering over the title. When you hover, you’ll also get a summary of the first sentence of each story.

The site is mobile-friendly out of the box, so you can view on your phone or tablet as easily as you can on your desktop computer.

To see what sites are currently available, click Feeds List in the navigation. If you’re an owner of a listed site, we don’t actually keep any of your content on the site for people to read; you’re assured page (and ad) views.

Solving a Problem

I’ve used RSS (news feed) aggregators for some time on sites like Protopage, and indycarbuzz. Then I noticed that there were many sites out there for content pros and designers, but not put together all in once place. Inspired by those two sites I visit regularly, I set out to create a resource for people like me. My aim was to keep it simple, fast, elegant, and uncluttered.

As I developed the site, I found it more and more useful; it was nice to have it all in once place, and I definitely read more content than I expected to!

Created with Drupal, the open-source CMS

This site was one I referred to in a presentation and blog post I wrote about developing a Drupal website using a sandbox (virtual machine).

Based on my experience in the Drupal community and with WordPress, I felt Drupal was a better platform for a project like this. I’ll create a separate post about the technical details of creating the site using Drupal.

Please feel free to kick the tires on contentcontent.info, and let me know what you think in the comments. I hope you use and visit the site often!

  1. Hi Rick! i had to take it down. The technology was end of life and I don’t have the time or the ability to update it. I posted on my Twitter feed that it was going away; sorry you missed it (and Content Content). I’m glad you found the site helpful 🙂
